goo Ranking looked at what food items people would be surprised to find in their bento lunch box.

Demographics

Between the 2nd and 6th of August 2013 1,046 members of the goo Research monitor panel completed a private internet-based questionnaire. 51.0% of the sample were female, 24.3% in their teens, 24.8% in their twenties, 25.0% in their thirties, and 26.0% in their forties. Note that the score in the results refers to the relative number of votes for each option, not a percentage of the total sample.

Given a Western palate and sensibilities (and of course being vegetarian), I find the concept of bento pretty unappetising, being used to warm food. I personally would be suprised to find this in mine:

And this is quite shockingly Westernised, although I could eat this:
