goo Ranking recently surveyed their members to find out what items of fashion women would baulk at their boyfriends wearing or putting on.

Demographics

Over the 5th and 6th of September 2011 1,112 members of the goo Research online monitor group completed a private internet-based questionnaire. 70.8% of the sample were female, 13.5% in their teens, 18.2% in their twenties, 28.1% in their thirties, 25.5% in their forties, 8.7% in their fifties, and 6.0% aged sixty or older. Note that the score in the results refers to the relative number of votes for each option, not a percentage of the total sample. This survey was for the women only.

This is another one of these surveys that leaves me scratching my head as to the point; nail art and skirts on men are a very different statement to, say, a piercing or a tanktop. Here’s a photo from Flickr of someone violating numbers 2, 4, 12, 18 and 21 at least!

“Pierce” is a verb so you can’t say “a pierce”. “A piercing” would be better (I know the wasei-eigo ピアス, but it looks strange when written in English).

I think male piercings are pretty much accepted now right? I’d never get one myself though!

I’d have to vote for the cartoon character one. Grown men with Winnie the Pooh t-shirts…

Ah yes, I’ve been in Japan too long! I’ve corrected that piercing!

So this was for hetero women only, not men who happen to have boyfriends or women who like women. I don’t know in Japan but in most progressive societies these types of surveys would be considered discriminatory.

Thank GOD that in Japan the politically correct bullshit you talk about is almost nonexistent. What’s next, you criticizing Japan Japanese society because is linguistically and culturally homogeneous and not a “melting pot” like USA?

What the hell is wrong with wearing a pair of shorts? I can’t believe that wasn’t last place (or that anyone even voted for it).

By the way shouldn’t it be Cartoon (with one “t”) for #14 ?
