As most of my readers will have heard about the series of huge earthquakes, I thought I’d better post to say that here at What Japan Thinks I’m well out of the danger zone in Kansai, and well away from the coast so no personal worries about tsunami.

I hope all my readers and their families in Japan are safe too. While I prepare my next post, you may like to read a few surveys on earthquakes.

Update: Google have set up a person finder service and other useful links:

Hi Paulina, I’m afraid I cannot help, but one way that might help is that Google have set up an emergency person finder:

However, if she is in Osaka, she will almost certainly be fine. In this end of the country there has only been one reported injury, and the strength here was very minor. She might be just a bit busy right now looking up friends or family in Tokyo, so please don’t worry about her.

What about the nuclear explosion and leakage? Will the people living in the southern part of japan be in danger because of that though?
Because my siblgins are all in the south of japan right now and say they’re completely fine too, but i’m worried about the nuclear explosion in fukushima that happaned this morning.
Obviously radiation is likely to spread… will people living in the areas you live in be in danger? :/
