Abenomics makes you wear colourful and cool clothes

I think the above is the take-away from this survey by the fast fashion retailer Uniqlo into Cool Biz and Super Cool Biz, who used this survey as an excuse to promote this year’s Super Cool Biz line of clothes.

Demographics

Between the 10th and 13th of May 2013 200 men and women in full employment living within Tokyo and aged between 20 and 59 completed an internet-based questionnaire.

cool biz

I don’t really go much for Cool Biz, but I’m always relatively casual at work. I have heard other people say that wearing a vest or T-shirt under a normal shirt helps no end on sweaty Japanese summer days, so perhaps I’ll pick up a couple of Uniqlo T-shirts and give them a go.

Uniqlo king of thermal undies in Japan

Do you feel warmer in thermal undies? graph of japanese statisticsWith all the cold weather recently, this survey from DIMSDRIVE Reseach may help you choose what kind of thermal underwear is best.

Demographics

Between the 1st and 16th of December 2010 5,915 members of the DIMSDRIVE monitor group completed a private internet-based questionnaire. 54.2% of the sample were male, 0.7% in their teens, 9.8% in their twenties, 30.2% in their thirties, 33.3% in their forties, 16.3% in their fifties, and 9.7% aged sixty or older.

When I was a kid the only thermal underwear was Damart, which still look as naff as I remember from then! Now, however, new materials such as UniQlo’s Heattech mean that clothes can be both fashionable and warm. My wife has a good number of their turtleneck tops, but all I have are two cheap-and-nasty last-generation U-neck inners. Note that this survey is only concerned with these new kinds of material.

Uniqlo top casual wear shop in Japan

How much do you spend per year on casual wear? graph of japanese statisticsI’ve not actually been into a clothes shop to get stuff for myself for a couple of years, although the last time I did go it was to a Uniqlo, the shop that comes out way on top in this recent survey from MyVoice into casual wear shops.

Demographics

Over the first five days of January 2009 13,923 members of the MyVoice internet community successfully completed a private internet-based questionnaire. 54% of the sample were female, 2% in their teens, 13% in their twenties, 36% in their thirties, 31% in their forties, and 18% aged fifty or older.

I usually buy casual wear at Passport, as they have a nice (read “cheap”) line of hannari tofu clothes. Otherwise I leave the casual shopping up to the wife, who uses mail order on the whole.
