This recent survey from goo Ranking looked at choices for destinations for overseas honeymoons. The question was suitably worded to be inclusive of not just the about to marry people, but also the already married and single people.
Demographics
Over the 21st and 22nd of September 2010 1,072 members of the goo Research online monitor group completed a private internet-based questionnaire. 68.2% of the sample were female, 10.4% in their teens, 18.0% in their twenties, 29.8% in their thirties, 26.2% in their forties, 8.7% in their fifties, and 7.0% aged sixty or older. Note that the score in the results refers to the relative number of votes for each option, not a percentage of the total sample.
Thailand probably comes dead last due to the recent civil unrest being fresh in people’s minds, I suspect. I was surprised to see that South Korea did not feature in the list, although I suppose it doesn’t have a resort image. If I was going on honeymoon again, I’d probably choose New Zealand, especially if starting from Japan.

From my point of view, honeymoons are all part of getting married, so I cannot understand why this survey from iShare into honeymoons found that just a third of unmarried Japanese thought a honeymoon was essential.
Demographics
Between the 20th and 25th of August 2010 450 members of the CLUB BBQ free email forwarding service completed a private internet-based questionnaire. 54.4% of the sample were male, 29.8% in their twenties, 33.8% in their thirties, and 36.4% in their forties.
On the other hand, given the lack of holidays, or at least the combination of both a reluctance to take and to grant holidays in Japan, I can understand some of the lack of enthusiasm for honeymoons. Although most of the married people I know did take honeymoons, a number of them took them a few weeks to a few months after the ceremony.
Should couples go on honeymoon?

This is a fascinating topic, which reveals quite a generational gap for how people spent their honeymoon. The survey was conducted by goo Research in conjuction with AllAbout Japan.
Demographics
Over the 15th and 16th of May 2008 1,080 married women from the goo Research monitor panel completed a private internet-based questionnaire. 20.1% of the sample were between 25 and 29 years old, 20.4% between 30 and 34, 19.9% between 50 and 54, 19.7% between 55 and 59, and 19.9% between 60 and 64 years old. For those who may have remarried, it doesn’t say if they should answer for their current marriage or for all.
My honeymoon was all over Europe – wedding in Scotland, then to Amsterdam where we got our video nicked, then Austria and Germany in slightly posher hotels. We’ve since been back to just about everywhere, except for Amsterdam, of course! We took about 16 days for it, although the guests we had to drag along from Japan stayed just three days, which seemed such a gross waste of time and expense, most of it ours.
