japan.internet.com recently reported on a survey conducted by goo Research into weather forecasts, and in their report they focused on smartphone weather-related apps.
Demographics
Between the 26th and 30th of July 2013 1,066 members of the goo Research online monitor group completed a private internet-based questionnaire. 54.5% of the sample were male, 14.0% in their teens, 15.3% in their twenties, 21.4% in their thirties, 16.9% in their forties, 15.0% in their fifties, and 17.4% aged sixty or older.
I don’t have any weather apps on my smartphone – they are a waste of packets, and furthermore my wife sends me a photo of the weather forecast on the television at lunch time and early evening. However, I’ve recently got a company phone, and the Google Now local weather forecast is useful, but I suspect once the novelty factor wears off I’ll stop using it.

I’d love one of the two parking areas near my house run by Times Parking to start offering their car-sharing service; a friend of mine who recently had one open near her said she was looking forward to being able to buy beer by the case instead of by the six-pack…

Note that a previous survey had found that a vast majority own smartphone cases.
I don’t have one for mine, and it’s only ever had a couple of minor spills out of my pocket onto carpeted floors.

In Q1SQ, I am disappointed that they did not have a separate answer for watching video; I suppose “web browsing” would cover everything from common or garden surfing to watching free content on YouTube and also paid content on Hulu and the likes, but to see data on usage of subscription services in particular on tablets would be illuminating.

Despite Samsung being one of the best-selling smartphones in Japan, as this survey from goo Research, reported on by japan.internet.com, into mobile phone and smartphone upgrades (the 8th time this survey has been conducted) revealed.
Demographics
Between the 3rd and 5th of June 2013 1,054 members of the goo Research online monitor group completed a private internet-based questionnaire. 51.6% of the sample were male, 0.4% in their teens, 7.5% in their twenties, 24.4% in their thirties, 33.9% in their forties, and 33.9% aged fifty or older. Although not stated, looking at the demographics it suggests a mobile phone-based questionnaire; Q1′s “none” is perhaps people with tablets only?
I’d have to go with being not interested in any in Q1SQ2. I went to a mobile shop a couple of days ago, and nothing feels right in my hand – either too big, too chunky, too slippery, too textured!

Just the last week there were some banner ads I saw that I wanted to click. They were for English lessons to improve one’s listening (I wish I could find an example again!) and one that sticks in my mind was a bartender passing a cocktail and saying “Oh ****! You *** cu*** tw**.”

I have spent exactly zero yen on in-game purchases; the two games I play that have such features play perfectly well without any extra contributions.
