No, that headline is not grammatically wrong, it’s just that in Japanese, the term for bringing one’s own thermos, mug to work (and also the name of this survey by Do House) is My Bottle or My Cup.
Demographics
At some recent point in time 641 members of the Do House monitor group completed a private internet-based questionnaire. 50.9% of the sample were male, 40.6% were in their twenties or thirties, and 59.4% were in their forties or fifties. All lived in the vicinities of Tokyo, and all were in employment, including part time and casual work.
I have both my own My Bottle and my own My Cup; I fill the thermos with tea from a tea bag, and slowly top up my My Cup from my My Bottle as time goes by. It feels like about a quarter of the people in myoffice bring their My Bottle, but I’ve never asked them what is inside, but for some reason I imagine it must be miso soup, although that doesn’t feature as a distinct option in Q3.
For some reason people drinking out of their thermos irritates me – the unscrewing and clinking as they put the cap back on is not in itself a noise that gets on my nerves, but much like fan usage it just grates for some no particular reason.

Following on from yesterday’s look at coping with the heat, I present a short report from Do House into failing to cope with the heat, in particular sweat and smells.
Demographics
Over the 14th and 15th of June 2013 1,047 members of the Moratame.net site completed a private internet-based questionnaire. The sample consisted of people of both sexes and aged between 20 and 59, but not further information than that.
I knew that spray is the most popular form of deodorant here, but I didn’t realise these sheets were so popular. I wonder where and when people use them, as I certainly don’t see people towelling themselves down on the train home! Although it is my favourite, stick deodorant is almost non-existant here – if any of my readers knows somewhere to get them, please leave a comment!

Do House – slogan: Human Networking Industry – recently released a report on the fifth of Japan’s Four Seasons, the Rainy Season, and found, not suprisingly, that it does not have many fans.
Demographics
Over the 22nd and 23rd of April 2013 1,199 members of the Moratame.net&erg; aged between 25 and 69 completed a private web-based questionnaire. No further demographic breakdown was presented.
Rainy season often causes mirth amongst foreigners as the Japanese are proud of their Four Seasons, yet rainy season is a very distinct period from June to mid-July (this year it started a bit early, and here in Osaka it might be officially declared tomorrow). However, the Japanese for rainy season, 梅雨, tsuyu does not include the word season – literally it is Plum Rain, apparently because it coincides with the plum ripening time. I do note, though, that Q1 here translates as “Do you like the Plum Rain Season?”
