That was the question posed by iShare in this survey into being tired of eco life. Note that eco here refers to both ecology and economising.
Demographics
Over the 10th and 11th of November 2010 1,509 members of the CLUB BBQ free email forwarding service completed a private internet-based questionnaire. 53.9% of the sample were male, 16.2% in their twenties, 32.7% in their thirties, 37.6% in their forties, and 13.5% in their fifties. Furthermore, all of them lived within one of the cities of Tokyo, Kanagawa, Chiba, Saitama, Osaka, Kyoto or Kobe.
I’m definitely fed up hearing about eco, and I’m dreading the day that they tell us that we should unplug out phone rechargers at work before we go home at night. I worked out that at an average hourly rate it actually costs more money to bend under the desk and spend 10 seconds plugging and unplugging versus the bleed from an average charger.

This recent survey from iShare looked at air purifier and ioniser purchasing intentions. Note that although it is unseasonal for buying air purifiers as they tend to have an image of being useful for hayfever sufferers, ionisers (or indeed air purifiers with built-in ionisers) are in laboratory tests effective against cleaning influenza and other viruses out of the air.
Demographics
Between the 5th and 8th of November 2010 590 members of the CLUB BBQ free email forwarding service completed a private internet-based questionnaire. 55.6% of the sample were male, 26.9% in their twenties, 33.6% in their thirties, and 39.5% in their forties.
I have an air purifier that we use every night, and it comes complete with a built-in “Plasma Cluster” ioniser. It’s the sort of thing that’s impossible to tell if it has any benefit in real life, I think, but it seems to work in the lab at least.

This recent survey from iShare looked into the Japanese bedroom to find out how couples sleep in Japan.
Demographics
Between the 26th and 29th of October 2010 615 members of the CLUB BBQ free email forwarding service completed a private internet-based questionnaire. 56.4% of the sample were male, 24.1% in their twenties, 35.0% in their thirties, and 41/0% in their forties.
Q1SQ1 is perhaps slightly misleading as I suspect people who sleep on futons often use two single quilts and two single matresses pushed together as double futons are the exception rather than the rule, although I should look for statistics to back up this claim.
Some of the reasons for sleeping in separate rooms were due to a baby displacing the husband, but noisy snoring was also a factor.

An interesting little survey from iShare into Warm Biz at home found a majority kept their room temperature under 20 degrees celcius or 68 degrees fahrenheit for the metrically-challenged.
Demographics
Between the 15th and 20th of October 2010 677 members of the CLUB BBQ free email forwarding service completed a private internet-based questionnaire. 57.2% of the sample were male, 23.9% in their twenties, 32.9% in their thirties, and 43.1% in their forties.
My keeping warm technique falls under the “other” category, cuddling up.
Oh, and no, I don’t know what the red underpants are all about either! Google informs me that apparently a TV program mentioned that they help recover from fatigue, warm you up, relieve back pain and stiff shoulders, and overcomes stress! Here’s a machine translation of a red underpants shop.

Looking at this recent survey from iShare into alcohol people want to drink warm, although the traditional Scottish hot toddy seems very much unknown, the Japanese equivalent is a sake egg-nog called Tamoago-zake, but I don’t fancy the sound of it.
Demographics
Between the 8th and 14th of October 2010 459 members of the CLUB BBQ free email forwarding service completed a private internet-based questionnaire. 55.8% of the sample were male, 29.4% in their twenties, 32.5% in their thirties, and 38.1% in their forties.
Some of people’s favourite recipes included shochu plus umeboshi (sour plum) plus hot water, warmed white wine mixed with a little honey, red wine stewed with herbs, spices and dried fruit, plum wine diluted with hot water, kumquat wine with ginger and cut with hot water, rum and butter and sugar and boilng water, and finally rum and sugar cubes added to boiling milk.

This recent survey from iShare looking at tablet computers produced some surprisingly high figures for user numbers.
Demographics
Between the 14th and 19th of October 2010 746 members of the CLUB BBQ free email forwarding service completed a private internet-based questionnaire. 56.2% of the sample were male, 24.8% in their twenties, 34.0% in their thirties, and 41.2% in their forties.
I do find it a bit difficult to believe that according to Q2 almost one in five already have a tablet computer. I don’t know if people are wrongly classifying any touch-operated mobile as a tablet, or if the demographic is completely skewed.
I’ve got no intention of buying a tablet. The main use for my netbook is hacking up blog entries like this one, so I feel that the software keyboard will get in the way of my typing.

iShare took a look at bringing amenity goods to hotels, the reverse of a survey from last year on taking amenity goods home.
Demographics
Between the 15th and 21st of September 2010 470 members of the CLUB BBQ free email forwarding service completed a private internet-based questionnaire. 56.2% of the sample were male, 31.7% in their twenties, 31.9% in their thirties, and 36.4% in their forties.
I’d love to try it an “Eco Stay” plan as I do get a bit fed up with the wife hoovering up even the razor, despite the fact that I always use an electric shaver. Furthermore, I’d rather my own toothbrush and toothpaste rather than the far too soft brushes and tiny tubes of paste.
However, I do like to grab the shampoo from posher hotels – on my recent trip to Hawaii the mango, honey and lychee soap and shampoo went straight into my suitcase (and then leaked, but that’s another story) and with the bed turn-down service also tidying up the room for a second time each day, I could get double helpings of the freebies!

A big story over the summer was the change in the Organ Donation Law to allow family members to offer up their brain-dead relatives for harvesting even without prior agreement from the donor. To see how Japanese felt about this change, iShare took a look at expressing opinions on organ donation.
Demographics
Between the 6th and 12th of October 2010 431 members of the CLUB BBQ free email forwarding service completed a private internet-based questionnaire. 56.6% of the sample were male, 32.9% in their twenties, 29.5% in their thirties, and 37.6% in their forties.
The news has been welcome in my household too as it’s given us an opportunity to talk about our wishes; all my bits are up for grabs, although my wife draws the line at her heart.
When the positive respondents to Q1 were asked why they had filled out their views, top reasons were that they wanted to be useful to someone after death and that they didn’t want their family members to waver over a decision. For those who hadn’t filled out a card yet, those that wanted to do expressed similar reasons to those above. Conversely, those against filling out a card wanted to leave the decision to the surviving family, or they weren’t yet sure what they wanted to do. However, others felt there was still the possibility of recovery from brain death, and if they filled out the card they could get criticised for it.

Following up on a recent survey on hitting children, iShare looked this time at reporting suspected abuse, with an interesting breakdown by kind of residence.
I think I could give you a reasonable estimate of the number of kids in my 32-roomed block of flats, but I could only name one just because I often hear his name being called from the next door garden! If I suspected any abuse of kids I would discuss it with our janitor and get him to do something.

iShare recently took a look at smartphones, including a look at what non-users thought smartphones might be like to use.
Demographics
Between the 17th and 21st of September 2010 406 members of the CLUB BBQ free email forwarding service completed a private internet-based questionnaire. 54.2% of the sample were male, 31.8% in their twenties, 30.3% in their thirties, and 37.9% in their forties.
Entertainingly (I’m easily entertained) one of the smartphones mentioned was the Brack Berry.
In Q1, I’m not sure how much the 22.7% of men carrying a smartphone reflects reality versus the kind of demographic that uses CLUB BBQ’s services, as it does seem a little high to me.
Q1SQ5 is a bit difficult to interpret; mail ease of use implies the ability to use emoji and the like, thus women have a worse impression of smartphone email. Good usability implies, I think, the overall user experience, whereas being easy to use implies how well each individual application functions.
