Today’s goo Ranking is one I thought looked good, but in the end… well, you decide with this look at sleep-related fails people have experienced.

Here’s someone quite overcome with having to walk the dog:

I can related to pretty much all on the list. My probably best-ever fail was on my birthday two months ago. I woke up to my alarm, and climbed out of bed to turn it off, but my left big toe got stuck in the right leg of my pyjamas, and I fell flat on my face as I tried to take my first step! I’ve also recently started drooling when I fall asleep on the train on the way back from work, which I suppose is more of an embarrassment than a fail, though.

One of Japan’s most recognisable horror icons is Sadako, a long black-haired (covering her face, usually) woman in a white dress that climbs out of your television to deliver a curse. With a new film coming out soon, goo Ranking decided to ask what other kinds of Sadako they would hate to meet.

The time for watching horror movies in Japan is not Halloween, but mid-summer, for the cooling effect of chills down one’s spine. However, this survey from goo Ranking looked at which foreign horror films people found traumatic.

Note that the definition of “horror” is a bit loose – I wouldn’t class Psycho and Alien, for instance, as horror, and Sixth Sense was just awful.

Have any of my readers found Japanese horror movies traumatic? I’ve never actually watched any myself, but as for Western movies, Carrie was a bit traumatic for me.

Today is the last day of my summer holidays, and although I didn’t go to the beach – indeed, I’ve never been to the beach in Japan – this survey from goo Ranking into slightly painful to behold women’s actions or behaviours one sees at the beach will perhaps be the last mention of summer on this blog for this year.

Following on from Disneyland, another big summer event is attending a festival. This ranking survey from goo Ranking looked at what sorts of things tend to happen at music festivals.

It’s now the holiday week in Japan, and that means that Disneyland and Disney Sea will no doubt be packed to the gunwales with tourists. (That reminds me, I must find some statistics on the most popular tourist attractions in Japan!) So, this survey from goo Ranking looks at what people who go to Disneyland tend to end up doing.

Note that buying souvenirs (and other general Disney tat) features very heavily. Despite living 500 kilometers away from The Magic Kindgom, it seems, for instance, that almost every teenage schoolgirl I see has a Duffy bear doll hanging off their schoolbags.

And before you ask, no, I don’t know the difference between number 2 and number 7!

goo Ranking did a nice pair of surveys recently, asking first what fashion when worn by over-thirty women can be painful to see, then giving over-thirty women their right to reply with what fashion items worn by us over-thirties can still look good.

goo Ranking’s survey for today is a look at what images people hold of common primary (elementary) school love.

This is the sort of topic that I feel uncomfortable with. I don’t remember much from my primary school days, but girls never really featured as anything significant until perhaps the last year, yet watching the television in Japan they ask even kindergarten children about who they fancy in their class. Maybe I just came from a strange part of Scotland, or maybe I was as blissfully ignorant as I am today. Both these have a high probability of being true…

goo Ranking recently published an interesting look at what sorts of people cannot get married, for both men looking at women and women looking at men. Note that the implication here is mostly regarding people who are actively dating, not those who aren’t interested in marriage.
