japan.internet.com reported on a recent survey from goo Research into domestic appliances, their 9th regular survey on this topic.

I recently bought a boring old Sanyo hoover, although the wife was interested in a Roomba, mostly for its pinkness.
And this seems like a good excuse for this video:
Research results
The sample were asked which of 22 different electrical items they had at home; see Q1 in the previous survey for the list. The most common was a fridge or freezer, with 92.2% having one, then 90.9% with a washing machine, 88.9% with a vacuum cleaner, 87.8% with a microwave oven, 83.4% with a digital terrestrial-ready television, and 79.9% with an air conditioner.
Q1: Are you interested in a Roomba or other automatic vacuum cleaners? (Sample size=1,073)

Interesting that you mention pinkness,
do you think that portions of profit going to charitable organizations have a large influence on shopper decisions in Japan?
I know they do in Canada, but I always felt in Japan that it was “charity shmarity” mainly due to trust issues.
Surprising that more Japanese aren’t interested in the Roomba, as robotics is considered a key to future prosperity in that country, it seems.
