“The meaning of Liff” is a book by Douglas Adams where he paired strange or evocative place names with features and situations that don’t have a name. Sounds strange, but the result was sometimes hilarious.

Fremantle is the name of the area (port) of Perth where Australia defended the America’s Cup, so I have no idea what it means here.

Don’t remember fremantle. I do remember “Throckmorton – the soul of a deceased madman that inhabits toasters”. And “Pelota – a South American ball game where you whack balls against a wall with a stout wooden bat until the prisoner confesses”

Fun book. Wonder if I still have it somewhere.
