Another good thing about ads for Japanese viewers is that since the Yen is growing stronger and stronger, every time they click you get more and more money. English adsense ads have been pretty abysmal for me lately, but the Japanese ones completely make up for it... do I smell a "WhatAmericaThinks" website in the works now? :P

Koichi, I wonder why that is? Lower uptake of Firefox + whatever its ad blocker is? Less sophisticated users? Less awareness? Searching Google for アドブロック turns up a physical block with an advert on it as number one! Next is Wired on AdBlock, then a 1934 radio advert blocker! Hmm, sounds like a business opportunity.

Glowing, yes, they are different, but I suspect the sort of person that clicks search ads is the sort of person who also clicks content ads!

Of course there's some significant difference between search advertising (which shows up in google's own results pages) and content advertising (which shows up on websites like ours).

So Goo visitors are like the AOL visitors of Japan? :P

I actually notice a much higher click-through rate on my site targeted towards Japanese readers. I think Japanese haven't had as much time to become adblind like we have. It'll happen eventually though :(
