What Japan thinks of dinosaurs

Are you interested in dinosaurs? graph of japanese statisticsYou can’t say that I don’t present obscure corners of Japanese opinion (and I’ve got an even more obscure corner for next week!) with this look by MyVoice at dinosaurs.

Demographics

Over the first five days of July 2008 13,867 members of the MyVoice internet community completed a private online questionnaire. 54% of the sample were female, 1% in their teens, 16% in their twenties, 38% in their thirties, 29% in their forties, and 16% in their fifties.

When I was a kid I used to have a poster of a T Rex fighting with a triceratops hung on my bedroom wall. When I stayed in Edinburgh there was a shop called Mr Wood’s Fossils that I always wanted to stop at and buy something, but I could never justify the cost!

kochi, glad you liked it ;-) I thought it was obsessively detailed - perhaps one of the MyVoice staff has a dinosaur fixation? In Q6, for instance, I don’t think people have considered the dinosaur reincarnation issue deeply enough to know if they’d rather be a flippered, flippered lizard, or croc-based swimming carnivore!

As threatened, though, next week (probably) I will have an even better one…

      “flying dinosaur” …
pteranodon is a pterausaur, a flying reptile, which is not a dinosaur. Dinosaurs didn’t fly.
This survey is as scientific as Rilakkuma or Doraemon

I’m absolutely shocked that the Japanese are overwhelmingly uninterested in dinosaurs. Those numbers are staggering!

57.7 % would not like to perform any dinosaur related activities.
      53 % like no dinosaurs.
53 % would not like to be reborn a dinosaur

What are they teaching those kids over there?

Rogers, I think these results were due to the lack of a “What the hell am I doing answering a survey on dinosaurs?” option!
