Nick: Didn't know that - the only ones I'm familiar with are slightly older ones in city centres. I can imagine that with a young family, karaoke would be better and cheaper than the cinema. Newer venues have larger rooms and menus that compete with restaurants. This is particularly noticeable in the suburbs where people have to drive and therefore can't drink. But I'm sure thats just my western view of karaoke showing. Then again, combining alcohol with a group of friends, almost anything can be fun.
