Australia&#039;s claims to the Southern Ocean are only recognized by 4 nations: New Zealand, UK, France, Norway.
Of course, each of those 4 nations have their own claims which Australia, in turn, recognizes -- but nobody else does.

Basically, it&#039;s all a farce. The Southern Ocean is effectively International Waters, as per the Antarctic Treaty System.
