I heard speculation about that four years ago, and I wouldn't be surprised if the discussion haven't been going on for even longer before that. And when you look at those corner stores, they've been pushing "Panasonic"-branded stuff and signs more and more, and it seems new stores are named after the Panasonic brand already. But yes, some signmaking company probably just wet their collective pants hearing this news. The “National” brand has been on the way out for some time.
