The Google-slap catches up with What Japan Thinks

A few weeks ago I posted about Google removing PageRank from a bunch of blogs but I escaped unscathed. I knew it was too good to last, as the latest data suggests I’m now down to PageRank 3. Another victim is one of my most favourite blogs, Tokyo Times, down to RageRank 4 from 6.

One notable exception, however, is Japan Today, which still retains a PageRank 7 despite having three paid links on the front page at the bottom of the left-hand column. The smoking guns are here, here, and here.

As for what happens due to a loss of PageRank; well, one person went to extremes, with Vlad cutting himself off completely from Google, and Andy Beard has written many good articles on this subject, such as this one: Dancing With The Gevil - Defamed By Google?

So, what am I going to do? Well, nothing actually, for now. I’ll wait and see how the traffic goes, but the last month has been my best month from the point of view of search access. However, if I see any drastic drops in Google traffic or AdSense revenue, I’ll reconsider my position.
