I grew up in Japan and I do remember hearing that if you hit 36 foul balls you are out. You mean that's now true?

The interesting thing about "someone will die" is that this is one of the few things in life that inevitably is true. Of course, the urban legends assume sooner rather than later, but at least you will have something to blame it on.
And in what other country would a game-related myth make it even into the top 100?

Oh, and number 5? Not true in Kichijoji or Nakano at least.

The Inokashira park swan boat thing is one of those things that's becoming true as a kind of self-fulfilling prophecy.

Thanks for the link, Adora. I wasn't sure what "severed mouth" meant. I still wouldn't say her mouth was severed.
Chasing kids is bad, but it sounds like this was a deformed or injured woman, possibly taking out her frustrations by scaring kids. I don't know why that's so dangerous.

What's so funny about so many of these superstitions is that they're so easy to check.

1. I've checked, it's not true.
3. It's not true across the board, at least. I've seen middle school and high school textbooks used this year in public schools in which pi is taught, usually, as 3.14.
7. My average spell of hiccupping surely involves more than a hundred. There are also people on record who've hiccupped for as long as decades on end - their entire lives.
15. My wife and I sleep with fans blowing right on us every night.

Others are verifiable, if not quite as easy.
For example, 17 and 19 should be verifiable by checking the lyrics.
(24) Former Sony engineers have reported working on "planned obsolescence."
There's evidence to support 14 and it would make sense.

One of the things I'll never understand about Japan is the widespread love of easily disproven, nonsensical superstitions and the boundless appetite for products incorporating vague pseudoscience.
