What do you mean, Linux is doing well at 16.7% on the server?

In a Linux Foundation survey, which I assume is US-centric, Linux has a small business server market share of 40%!

In Japan, businesses prefer to buy from a big brand name. It's a question of trust, getting support and having someone responsible when there is a problem. There are a lot less homegrown IT solutions based on Linux around, and a big difficulty for smaller Linux vendors is to build a brand name that can match Microsoft.

That doesn't mean Linux is not successful in Japan (otherwise I would not have the job I have), but calling this market share "successful" masks the fact that it is twice that much in other parts of the world.
