Top 10 photo locations in Japan
I spotted this report of a survey on the top 10 photo locations in Japan (or did they mean Tokyo only?) as chosen by 100 tourists randomly stopped in the Tokyo streets.
The article, sadly, is missing photographs of said items, although a quick Google Images search should show you the missing items; in fact, as a public service, here goes:
10. Tsukiji Fish Market
9. Kimono
8. Japanese street signs
7. Mt. Fuji
6. Vending machines
5. Narita Airport
4. Shibuya Crossing
3. Asahi Beer Headquarters
2. Tokyo Imperial Palace
1. Kaminari-mon.

First off, I had no idea that the Asahi Beer HQ was the building with the big carrot/daikon/? on it. I took a picture of it my first time in Japan in 2001 just ’cause the thing on top made me chuckle.
I agree this seems Tokyocentric, I would have expected the temples in Kyoto or a few of the castles to rate in the top 10.

@bland10000:
Believe it or not, it’s supposed to be a golden flame. I have to admit, though, a flame wasn’t what came to my mind either when I first saw it.

It’s by Starck, isn’t it? The “Golden Turd” (”kinno unko”) as the venacular has it.
I’m guilty of all those photo locations/subjects in my early years/tourist trips, except for the fish market as I could never manage to wake up early enough.
