As Golden Week draws to a close
AdvertisementI’m sure you’ve felt that the site hasn’t been updated with its usual frequency the last week, but I have a genuine excuse. As well as just enjoying the holiday break, I’ve actually recently been prescribed Paxil and Wypax, which seems to be a Japanese formulation of Lorazepam, with a bonus dose of Gasmotin. The first two drugs seem like scary beasties, but I’m on just about the lowest dose for each, so touch wood…
After starting taking these from just last weekend, the change in my mental balance has been quite noticable. Things that made me want to go and hide in a corner and cry now just bounce off and I can formulate decent strategies for reducing the conflict that caused these events.
Ironically, one of the many causes of my requiring treatment was my inability to function in Japanese in the office, or at least my percieved inability. However, I have spoken Japanese almost exclusively with the few doctors I’ve dealt with regarding this problem. Tomorrow is work; let’s see how I can cope there, as I finished up before the holidays in an almost cataconic state unable to summon up any energy to do any work.
Doing this blog, especially the translation stuff, has been mostly unaffected by my illness; it is something I achieve on my own and get proof that it is well-received by at least some of my readers. I thank all my regular subscribers for keeping at least part of me grounded in sanity!
