Japanese women dream of the USA
DIMSDRIVE performed internet-based research involving 5,274 people in September of last year to find out which country’s citizens would people most want to marry. It is not stated whether or not the people interviewed were single or not.
The Asia versus the West split is quite noticeable in the men, but really striking amongst the women. I previously translated statistics regarding international marriages in Japan that shows that the ideals being expressed here do not seem to be realised.
On a slight tangent, I watched the last episode of an NHK English learning program which features an English-speaking Western blonde angel that prods a clueless office worker along the path to success at her job getting a date with her transferred from New York colleague, the ideal tall, muscular, tanned, well-coiffured white executive. The angel’s job was done because the glaikit Misaki finally pulled her man.
Q: Other than Japanese, which country’s people do you think would be good to have as a partner (husband or wife)? (Sample size=5,274, free answer)
Rank Votes 1 USA 1,144 2 Korea 505 3 UK 442 4 Italy 370 5 France 344 6 Australia 218 7 Germany 203 8 China 197 9 Canada 150 10 Russia 120 Q: Other than Japanese, which country’s people do you think would be good to have as a partner (husband or wife)? (By sex, free answer)
Rank MaleN=2,468 Votes Rank FemaleN=2,806 Votes 1 USA 368 1 USA 776 2 Korea 297 2 UK 347 3 China 174 3 Italy 278 4 France 134 4 France 210 5 Russia 117 5 Korea 208 6 Thailand 99 6 Australia 145 7 UK 95 7 Germany 131 8 Italy 92 8 Canada 99 9= Taiwan 73 9 Switzerland 47 9= Australia 73 10 Spain 34 First, looking at the East-West split - or more accurately, perhaps, the caucasian-Asian split (I’m not aware of any black Western role-models in Japan) we see that for men, 36% of the total votes were for Western wives versus 26% for Asian women, favouring the West (I’m including Russia, with Maria Sharapova as the popular image of the country) by just over a third. However for women there is a marked difference; about 74% in total choose the West (over 40% for the USA alone) versus a mere 7.4% for the East, a massive ten to one vote for Europe and the USA.
Next, looking at the detailed age breakdown, it’s only in the teenage girls group that the USA fails to top the charts, losing out to France and Korea, and equal with the UK. For men in their twenties, American women are preferred over the second-placed Korean women by almost 60%, and the Chinese are back in fifth, gaining just over a third of the number of votes of the USA. However, the older men get, the stronger the charms of the Asian neighbours become, with the gap at its smallest being just a mere three votes. Similarly, for men in their forties and over, Chinese women cut the gap from a third to about a half of the USA score.
For women, as they get older (ignoring the over sixty bracket which has a very small sample size, so may be rather inaccurate) the attraction to American men only get stronger; in their twenties, Americans get just under a quarter of the vote, but by their fifties, it surpasses three in ten. Despite the charms of the disturbingly Harry Potter-like Bae Yong Joon Korean men do not seem to be particularly favoured by the middle-aged demographic.
These two main trends noted above are perhaps reflections on Japanese society as much as on foreign stereotypes. The younger men hold images of themselves as charming the sophisticated Western woman, but as they age (and visit dodgy hostess bars…) they come to realise that perhaps only Asian women could accept their typical Japanese behaviour. For women, after having been around Japanese men for many, many years, they too may come to realise that the Western stereotypes of politeness and chivalry are the only things that could satisty them in marriage.
Bonus points if you can name the people pictured…

Which is why I find it hard to buy into the whole “you can have whatever you put your mind to” speach.

which is why you do not have what you want….don’t hate me because i’m beautiful : p just kidding.
seriously though, anyone has the right to date/marry whoever they want! keep looking, i’m sure you are bound to find someone you click with. unfortunately, on the down side, i hear some japanese persuade other japanese into NOT dating outside their race.
us humans can’t seem to get enough of war, whether its the “us against them” mentality, or how we handle our natural environment, its all quite clear.

Not at all. You hit the nail on the head. In this hell, for some, freedom is an illusion. If it truly existed, it would be a much better place…not just for a certain few.

Thank you I just believe that human rights and personal freedoms are extremely important. I also agree that to some people some things may seem trivial however they have a much larger effect than they think.

In relation to what you said, why do you side with communisum? A little curious.

I don’t think that we get what we put our minds to; we only get what we get. However, I was able to get laid in Japan, but the girl I really liked most of all stood me up :(. Maybe I deserved it.
She has emailed me though, so I’ll see if I can at least be her friend (and hopefully have a place to stay next trip to Japan LOL). Of course I will give her somethnig in return for her hospitality, I just don’t know what yet. Free English lessons don’t seem to be enough in my book.
I also hope to study in Hiroshima in a year or so. Wish me luck. I will be the first Black American to study in Japan, just as I will be the first Black man to make love to exclusively Japanese women. From now on, it is either victory or death! No sex with non-Japanese women. No retreat, no surrender!

Hightides, in SoCal they want Whites, latrinos, and fuck-all except for Blacks.
In Japan they are a bit easier for Blacks too (or at least for me). I am also interested in Japan itself as a nation, and I’d like to escape the brown tide.

Lol, no I side with democracy. Although personally I do not prefer the democracy in USA. It was just a poor example of how USA tries to alienate others. I find that there are a few and if you even mention any Social policies they jump on your back calling you a communist. I find this to be quite bizare. I think in theory communism can be a great thing however we have never seen true communism as corruption always finds a way to enter it. Even now China is know by a fair amound as a communist nation, yet they are getting closer and closer to being Capitalist. They still have their different classes so how can they be a true communist nation?

My J-girl been putting the pressure on me to marry her since 2005, and I still have not yet. Now the entire family is expecting me to marry her and she braggs all our plans to just about anyone, so now people expect marriage soon. I told her “nothing is guaranteed” but she insist on me promising her to be married with her and that people in Japan keep their word. I told her welcome to Western culture, cause a promise don’t mean shit and also, I will not be pressured by anyone to marry. I was married before to a white older woman and learned financially, mentally and physically and very painful lesson in being fucked over. So I am very cold feet and have revealed this to her and yet she tries to pursuade me to get lock down. I don’t know about you guys but this woman would spend all her money on me…she buys me anything I want/need or just seem to want to always be in the take care of me role, as long as I ove her or intend to have a future with her. I don’t know…guess I am not use to a woman that actually gets involved in my life plans. We are both educated from Graduate school and all that..and she is a Analyst with Intel KK, while I have shifted to be an Officer in the Army National Guard in CA, and Government. Anyways, I have not chased any other J-woman during my visits here, although I have a car and 12 hours to do so. I am one of those lazy guys, who just simply find chasing women te be a waste of time and headache, so I stick with one if I have one. She professes her love and commitment and her parents go through all kinds of trouble to treat us to expensive meals and gifts etc. I have had the privilege of spending the weekends (sleep) at her sister and husband’s home as well as her friend’s home too. I have not experienced the kind of hate of crap anyone here says they do. For some reason, I am treated exceptionally well, but then agian my girl translates everything for me, and I am quite active (physically fit), they also know I am educated and hold my own back in the states. I think maybe its all attitude, but I have the advantage of having someone here rather than just being here on vacation or some other venture and having to do everything on my own. I think the body languages or lack of communication can be interpretated as racism. I spend alot of time in the gym, and sometimes I see the eyes watching me when I lift or run, but I think its more of admiration at how strong I am or the sweaty beads running down my perfectly sculptured bronze (black ) physique.
I really don’t know……….

There are lots of interesting stories here. These days, if a woman isn’t willing to put in work, she isn’t any different than a working girl. And if she’s a working girl, she isn’t the only one, if you know what I mean,,,isn’t it a turn off knowing you are settling down with someone who’s just gold-digging you? You could be anyone. (>.

I gets clearer everyday…seriously,,,I mean, who ever said there was a thing called love?? LOL It’s a sad illusion one will die believing. Unfortunately one of the many illusions out there we make up.
As for the working girl, she’s apparently on the table doing her thing, but Monica coming out of the backroom is looking just as good, so let the games begin. Don’t limit/fool yourself.
Just numbers fellas,,, similar to the bank accounts they admire.
Silly rabbit, tricks are for kids. LOL

However, one thing I have yet to understand about Japanese culture is that the men beat the women to submit to only them. If they mention about dating anyone else, or if they are found text messaging some other guy, they usually get beaten. Talk about air headed eh?

Funny stuff! I’ve been with my Japanese girlfriend for a bout a year now and I teach for one of the major language schools here. For me, I find it soo easy to play around here its not even funny. Sometimes I wonder if my girlfriend is even aware of it and goes along with it. There are soo many black hairs around the house its quite obvious, and she has reddish brown hair.
Some of you might not like to hear that. And yes VAJ, I’m caucasian. Maybe that’s why its soo easy for me, I don’t know. Alls I know is that these girls throw themsleves on me. It gets old after a while.

I disagree love is in fact a very real emotion. It is not going to make a relationship just work on its own however as some people seem to think it does. But it is real all the same.

I don’t have any idea why you would want to cheat on your gf it is an extremely unethical thing to do.

Mr. Tibett, you are full of it dude. I can see if you really do have a J-girl, but you are such a narcissist (sp, too lazy to pull up dictionary) that I would think that you are a bloody latrinoid.
Yes lastdance, that is why it is easy for you. I must say that you are quite dishonourable, and have little dignity. I suppose that is life. Why play fair when life is not fair?
I used to try to uphold a code of honour, of dignity. Lessons learned in life show that there is no reward for such behaviour. All I can say is that if I ever do marry a Japanese woman, I will not commit adultery (ie cheat on her). No, I am not a Christian, but I tend to use a bit of Christian terminology. Chivalry is dead.

I’d have to say that japan has got to be one of the loniest places in the world to live. Never got the chance to see all of the world during my stay there, but I can imagine it to be so when comparing.
This obviously isn’t the case for all, since people such as lastdance seem to be doing fine there, but from my experience, it was definitely a lonely place to be.
I would have to say, in the love/relationships section, the most annoying thing was meeting several people only to have them disappear without any explanaition. I can’t tell you how many times this has happened. Things seemed to be going just fine during our few nights out. Anybody in their right mind would think so. However, apparently, they didn’t. And without being honest about it, they tend to just leave without giving any hints. In my book that seems a bit selfish, but maybe on their end they don’t think so.
Scary thing is, so many of them did that very same thing! I just thought that was the straingest thing, like nobody had a mind of their own. I mean, in the here in the states, if a woman didn’t like you, it’s possible she might try to pull that, but not EVERY single one. Talk about children of the corn!
Anyhow, to make a long story short, I guess the nature of the japanese people are just that way, and they aren’t as willing to open up or talk with gaijin so easily. Which makes me wonder about places lastdance visited. Roppongi? I doubt it, since I lived down the street from there.
Another thing which could be a barrier, they also seemed to have a hard time coping with differences, especially foreigners for looking so different than they. I guess it freaks em out.
