I too got good & tired of Blogger’s many quirks & foibles. I then moved to Typepad & finally WordPress. You’ve made an excellent decision to move to WordPress. But I’m sorry to say the decision to choose BlueHost may not’ve been wise.

I too chose BlueHost as my host when I started my WP blog last May. But I’ve just left BlueHost because of an outrageous and crippling problem with CPU quota errors which the company either couldn’t or wouldn’t fix.

I’d say if you have a simple installation then perhaps BlueHost might work OK for you. But if you use mod_rewrite or .htaccess their technicians know little about it (& I use it a lot in my installation). Also, as I said above if something really weird happens on their servers they may not be able to fix it or even tell you what’s wrong.

My site was once shut down by BH because they claim I used up all my bandwidth for the month (in less than a second!). But actually there’d been a spike caused by the server which was atrributed to my site. I thought the whole incident was passing strange.

If you should ever think of switching hosts I’ve done some research and found that 4-5 people in a Mozilla forum thread I started on hosts recommened Dreamhost highly. A friend offered to host my site on his virtual server (where I’ve had no CPU errors at all–telling me the errors were caused by BH’s servers). That’s the only reason I’m not on Dreamhost now. BTW, I have no involvement w. Dreamhost & earn nothing fr. what I just said to you about the company.
